Old Cottage’s slate-roof porch leads into a cosy sitting room with an inglenook-style fireplace, wood-burning stove, characterful beams and colourful cushions and rugs.
There are two large comfortable sofas either side of the room - an ideal spot to cosy up on chilly evenings or to collapse into after a busy day hiking, surfing, swimming ++! There is a smart TV and plenty of boardgames.
The galley kitchen and dining area are open plan and to one end of the sitting room (separated by the open staircase.) There’s a wooden dining table with benches and chairs. The ‘country-cottage’ kitchen is fully equipped and has a new granite work surface, butlers sink, cooker and microwave. (The washing machine and dryer are in an outdoor utility room.)
Original wooden stairs lead up to three light and airy bedrooms, all refurbished and in keeping with the original wooden floors, deliciously wonky beams and doors. The two double bedrooms and one twin room have been decorated with a modern twist to this still very traditional coastal cottage. There is a newly refurbished, modern bathroom with a WC and over-the-bath shower.
Outside there is a small garden with a paved area with a bench, table and chairs that look down the lane to the sea. A truly zen spot to relax and watch the gentle sunrises and legendary Crackington sunsets over Cambeak cliff.
When you return from the beach there is an outdoor hot shower – great for rinsing off wetsuits, sandy feet, and the dog! A further WC/utility area is accessed from the outside with ample storage for beach gear ++.
There is a single garage next to the house, which fits one standard-sized car. A free pass is given for a second car to park in the nearby parish car park.

Crackington HavenLocated in a protected Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Crackington Haven is on the coast of North Cornwall, just one hour from Exeter and the M5 and eight miles from Bude. With only two car parks, it never gets overcrowded.
Crackington is home to an unspoilt cove and beach – lined by magnificent cliffs, which are amass with wildflowers in the spring and early summer. It is the perfect place for active holidays – hiking, surfing, paddle boarding, cold water swimming, fishing, exploring rock pools and more.
The local village tennis courts are easy and cheap to hire, and the famous Southwest Coast Path runs through the village and offers miles of well sign posted trails following the spectacular coastline.
The sandy and pebbly beach bustles with activity, enjoyed by locals, surfers and visitors alike. The RNLI watch over in the summer months.
Eating out in the haven…There is a great pub just yards down the lane called the Coombe Barton Inn that serves high-quality, locally sourced and seasonal ‘modern Cornish’ food. Their perfect Sunday roasts are highly recommended. (Booking recommended.)
Either side of the main carpark are two fantastic cafes also offering delicious local produce. We recommend the fresh crab sandwiches, cakes and locally crafted gifts in the Haven Cafe and the pasties, cream teas or varied breakfast options in the Cabin Cafe.
Community-run Crackington Village Shop is up the hill in Higher Crackington and sells pretty much everything.
There are some brilliant local chefs for special occasion home-dining. Two of our favourites are Kit Davis (plenty of Michelin experience) and Celis Kitchen (Asian deliciousness.) We hear the Electric Bakery in Bude is well worth a visit.
